Mellows, Wallington

Type:

Residential Extension

Date:

2025

At Mellows, the original galley kitchen was dark, narrow, and disconnected from the rest of the home. The clients wanted a space that would feel open, bright, and connected to the garden. We designed and built a rear extension to transform the layout, creating a generous kitchen diner that has become the heart of the house.

A striking glass apex was introduced into the roofline, flooding the space with natural light and adding a contemporary feature that enhances the sense of openness. Because the garden sat at a much lower level, we created a raised patio with steps leading down to the lawn, ensuring the inside and outside now flow together seamlessly. To frame the patio and provide structure, we built new sleeper beds that soften the transition between house and garden.

The result is a home that feels bigger, brighter, and far more practical for modern living.
